Essay Contest
This yearly scholarship provides an opportunity for students to express their opinion in written form about a specified topic & its impact on the world.
Winners of the essay contest are awarded scholarships and by our local chapter and can advance to the district level for additional scholarships. Awards range from $100 – $300 at the local level and up to $2,500 at the district level.

Oratorical Contest
The Optimist Oratorical Contest gives youngsters the chance to speak to the world. This annual speech contest is designed to inspire the youth of today to inform others through the art of public speaking.

Club Scholarships
The New Ulm Optimist Club strives to support the continued education of the youth in our community.
The Optimist Club Scholarships provides $750 awards for driven students either attending 4 year programs OR attending a trade/vocational school. Applicants clear career path, drive and motivation to complete their education, and a desire to be involved in their community.
